The more the public finds out about the Ground Zero Mosque, the more its defenders invent excuses and attack the concerned Americans who oppose the project.

First we were told that the mosque was intimately connected to Ground Zero, and that it was going to be a memorial to those killed in the name of Islam on September 11th. Now the media insists that the building isn't even in sight of Ground Zero, and has nothing to do with that hallowed ground. Then we were told that the mosque was an issue of religious freedom, and that it had to be built to preserve American values. Now we're being told that the building isn't a mosque at all, but a generic community center to be constructed on private land.

And above all else, we were told that the Ground Zero Mosque was being built to inspire dialogue and build bridges. But every time American citizens have raised objections and tried to engage in discussion, they have been shouted down as bigots.

Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors is proud to host Mark Durie, author of the challenging new book The Third Choice: Islam, Dhimmitude and Freedom, for a lecture on these issues and more.

Dr. Durie will outline how accusations of racism and discrimination are being used to stifle dissent and to facilitate the spread of militant Islam.

He will explain how the refusal to outline the true nature of political Islam is undermining our counter-terrorism campaigns, disabling our diplomatic efforts, and making a mockery of genuine public debate.  Across the board, political correctness is hurting us here and suffocating the hopes of moderate Muslims abroad.

Dr. Mark Durie is a theologian, human rights activist and pastor in the Anglican church.  He has published many articles and books on the language and culture of the Acehnese, Christian-Muslim relations and religious freedom. A graduate of the Australian National University and the Australian College of Theology, he has held visiting appointments at the University of Leiden, MIT, UCLA and Stanford, and was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 1992.
