In an effort to educate the public on the true threat of Islamic fundamentalism to Western Civilization, Nonie Darwish, author of Now They Call Me Infidel; Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel and the War on Terror, spoke for Doris Wise Montrose’s Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors Los Angeles on Sunday, January 21. Montrose assembled a group of individuals with a wide range of views and political persuasions to hear Darwish discuss her book, life, and the nature of Islamic Jihad while also preparing the audience for a screening of the hard hitting and controversial movie, Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West, which she appears in as an expert witness about the nature of this threat.

The response from those attending was universally positive. Montrose received praise not only for the event but also for her ongoing efforts to get the kidnapped Israeli soldiers released and to raise awareness of a worldwide struggle with Islamic fundamentalism, a struggle that we must wake up to before a bloodletting occurs that might very well dwarf any that befell the 20th Century.

Prominently displayed at the event was a board highlighting the grievous errors from Jimmy Carter’s highly criticized new book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid. Carter has been vilified for views that are extremely Anti-Semitic and, in light of the war on terror, anti-American as well as being defeatist. “Being from the family of Holocaust survivors, I feel compelled to fight against those who seek to perpetuate horrors against humanity,” Montrose says. “I do not want my parents’ yesterday to be the world’s tomorrow.”

When contrasting and connecting the Nazi Holocaust and the current surge of Arab inspired Anti-Semitism, the popular blogger Instapundit.com found that one of the most startling revelations of the movie came from “archival footage documenting the long standing hatred of Jews and ultimately Israel beginning in the 1930’s with riots in Palestine and the arrival on the world stage of the infamous Haj Amin al Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem as Hitler’s house guest.

“Professor Robert Wistrich directs the viewers’ attention to an August 1941 document exchanged with the Grand Mufti on his first meeting with Nazi madman Adolph Hitler citing his intention of destroying European and world Jewry. This is followed by archival footage of the Grand Mufti trooping the lines of Bosnian Muslim Waffen SS troops and effective voice over commentary from noted Nazi hunter John Loftus,” Instapundit reported.

From only the first of a series of salon-style debates scheduled for the coming year, Montrose has scored additional support and media attention with a series of decals that seek to get the three kidnapped Israeli soldiers released from the clutches of Hamas and Hezbollah. Posted on many blogs and websites as a banner, the photo decal of Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev, and Ehud Goldwasser displays an urgent headline: Release the Israeli Soldiers Now.

These decals have been a big hit at various events and are helping to ensure that no one forgets about these men who, according to the ceasefire agreement negotiated by the U.N., should have been released after the summer war between Israel and Hezbollah ended. Yet several months have since passed and too few people are talking about them anymore; this, says Montrose, is unacceptable.
