CJHSLA Parlor Speaker Series

You are invited to a very special presentation by one of the most stimulating speakers of our day discussing the fight against radical Islam by using Objectivism to clarify the nature of the battle and the necessary actions to win it.

Dr. Yaron Brook,Executive Director,

Ayn Rand Institute

The fight against Terrorism and Totalitarian Islam
is not a political, but an ideological battle.

Sunday, August 5, 2007 3 p.m.

Private home Woodland Hills

Dr. Brook is executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, and his commitment to her philosophy of Objectivism has led him to view the struggle against totalitarian Islam through this lens -- as not a political but an ideological battle.

Born in Israel and a citizen of the U.S. since 2003, Dr. Brook has promoted controversy and challenged conventional thinking with his insistance that the West is operating out of fear of confronting "Islamic anything...The fear stems from the academic trend of multiculturalism, in which all cultures are morally equal, and moral relativism, in which 'anything goes' in human behavior." [Jerusalem Post, Jul. 12, 2007]

He has spoken at venues from corporate seminars to stages of universities, from public lectures to media appearances, and has put himself squarely in the bulls-eye of both conservative and liberal interest groups.  An intellectual heir to Ayn Rand, Dr. Brook minces no words in denouncing what he views as the West's elevation of altruism above selfishness in attempting to wage "compassionate wars."  He sees self-doubt reflected in Western democracies hewing to an identity of guilt over real, exaggerated or imagined transgressions of the past, and has stated that "When that's the center of your focus, when you're filled with self-doubt, when you don't believe that your values are better than anyone else's, you cannot fight.  You cannot win." [ibid]

Please join us for one of most provocative and challenging events in our speaker series.  Leave your preconceptions at the door...
