A Debate and Dialogue

Larry Greenfield, California Director, Republican Jewish Coalition
Andrew Lachman, President, Democrats for Israel, Los Angeles
Moderated by Steven Goldberg, Vice President, CJHSLA; National Vice President ZOA

Larry Greenfield is the California Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition (www.rjchq.org), overseeing 10 growing chapters in the Golden State.  He received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, in Washington, DC, where he worked on an arrest warrant for PLO Chief Yasir Arafat, which helped to deter his appearance before the United Nations.  Larry served in the Armed Forces of the United States in Naval Intelligence, and he lectures frequently on American foreign policy.   He has traveled to some 75 countries, including inside 9 war-zones, and worked to assist distressed Jewish communities in Ethiopia and Yemen.  A rising star in the GOP, Larry served as a statewide co-chair of the Governors successful re-election campaign, and he was an advisor to the Governors Legal Office during the Clemency Appeal of murderer Tookie Williams.

Andrew Lachman is the President of Democrats for Israel Los Angeles (www.dfi.dpsfv.com), a Democratic Club that advocates for the pro-Israel community in the Democratic Party.   Andrew is also the organizer of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Jewish Democratic Council and served as co-chair of Los Angeles Jews for Kerry and Deputy Constituencies Director for Pennsylvania Kerry Edwards in 2004.   He also served as West LA Lead Organizer for the 2006 California Democratic Coordinated Campaign, Southern California Political Director for former Controller Steve Westly in 2002 and Deputy Director of the Maryland Democratic Coordinated Campaign in 1994.   He is an alumnus of the ADL Salvin Leadership program of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation’s New Leaders Program.   He currently works as an attorney with a large technology consulting company in Woodland Hills.
  • There is no such thing as an insignificant election for the President of the United States, but rarely have the stakes been as high as in the 2008 race.

  • Voters will be asked to choose who can best lead our country to victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, can best handle a nuclear Iran and a resurgent Russia, and can best deal with ongoing environmental and economic problems.

In the Middle East, the Jewish State faces the risk of complete physical annihilation
for the first time in decades.

  • Politicians - especially politicians dealing with issues as daunting as these - have an interest in keeping their policies vague so as to appeal to the broadest constituency

  • This is an extremely important event for those who want to be informed first-hand of the important differences between, or similarities with, the two parties.
