Samira Tamer has her origins as a Lebanese Christian. She is married to, Ergun, a non-practicing secular Muslim from Turkey. She will be sharing with us her personal experience with the dire situation in the Middle East.

"The message I want to send concerns the Islamization not only of Egypt, where it is obvious, but also of Turkey, where it is more subtle, and the changes I have seen in these countries over the past 20 years. This is important as it will have consequences on us as a country and our way of life in the future.

"Most people are not aware that radical Islam was started by Hassan Al Banna in the 1920s and was then called the Muslim Brotherhood. It was the Muslim Brotherhood which assassinated Anwar Sadat. Our contemporary terrorist organizations (Hamas, Al Qaida) sprang from the Muslim Brotherhood. Their hero is Adolf Hitler, as was Al Banna's in his time.

"Since I speak both (Arabic and Turkish), the messages I get from the people who live there are different than what one reads in the news and sees on TV. During my presentation, I will show photos taken in Egypt and Turkey in June of 2007. They will not for the most part show the starkness of their circumstances, but I will be able to expand on their situations by providing commentary."
